Welcome to the Vancouver Film Festival. This year our festival is filled with great delights - wonderful performances, free events, and lots of fun - as well as workshops, master classes and informative demonstrations.
It is a special year for us, one in which we have focused on the Vancouver Film Festival mission not only to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists into our midst, but to give back to the community through free events and community partnerships designed to showcase local artists.
The Vancouver Film Festival is set to enrapture festival lovers once again. Our venue will leave you fascinated, captivated and enthralled. With performances ranging from classic to contemporary, traditional to avant-garde, each act will inspire you to greater heights.
Vancouver Film Festival The festival began in 1982. More than 150,000 people attended 500 screenings of over 300 films from more than 50 countries. For 2005, the VIFF lineup included 248 feature and mid-length films and 118 shorts. The festival's purpose is to encourage the understanding of other nations through the art of cinema, to foster the art of cinema, to facilitate the meeting in British Columbia of cinema professionals from around the world, and to stimulate the motion picture industry in British Columbia and Canada.
The Vancouver International Film Festival is operated by the Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society, a provincially registered, non-profit, education and cultural organization incorporated under The Society Act of British Columbia, and a federally registered charity under the Canadian Income Tax Act.…...more!
